Warrior Relations Specialist/Licensed Clinical Social Worker
K9s For Warriors is the nation's largest provider of service dogs to veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war, such as Post-traumatic Stress. Our unique, in-house program helps change the lives of American heroes by pairing them with a battle buddy, who was likely a rescue dog, and then teaching him or her to utilize that dog to mitigate the symptoms of their disabilities. In order to help fuel our life-changing program, we are in search of a Warrior Relations Specialist/Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Summary/Objective
Under the direct supervision of the Warrior Relations Manager, The Warrior Relations Specialist's primary function is to be the principal liaison for the warrior applicant/graduate. This employee will be responsible for coordinating, following-up and communicating with the warriors. A qualified candidate will be experienced with PTSD treatment and can provide consultation regarding all aspects of the veteran/service dog partnering.
Required Education and Experience

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Master's degree or higher)
-
Knowledge of the Veterans community and issues regarding serving clients from this community
-
Experience in working with Veteran Service Organizations and/or Department of Veterans Affairs
-
Ability to work with persons with mental and physical disabilities
-
Temperament must be well mannered and balanced
-
Ability to carry on coherent conversations with challenging clients
-
This position requires the candidate possess a strong ability to speak clearly, and effectively as well as the ability to listen to and hear, clients who may be in distress. Strong analytical skills
Essential Functions

Managing all phases of the Warrior application process, including:
-
Collecting and screening of all required paperwork
-
Reviewing and approving application package and final approval from the Warrior Relations Manager

Determining class dates and scheduling warrior accordingly
-
Completing all in-class administrative functions on behalf of warriors
-
Interacting with warriors through various modes of communication to include phone, e-mail, and in-person meetings

Serving as a point of contact for future, current and graduated warriors
-
Maintaining pre-class and post-class contact with warriors as per department policies
-
Scheduling recertification for warriors as required
-
Managing warrior data in paper form and a proprietary database
-
Responding to the inbound communication from warriors and family members regarding program

Coordinating with dog trainers and warrior trainers, ensuring they have the information necessary to make an appropriate service dog match
